The number of cases of Covid-19 in Sanford and Springvale jumped dramatically this week, as the virus surges across the state. With data as of November 29, there were 38 new cases in Sanford and 5 in Springvale, for a total of 43 new cases in our community. This is nearly double the previous weekly record for new cases.

The cumulative total of cases now stands at 240 in Sanford and 70 in Springvale, for a combined total of 310.
There are now 472 active cases of Covid-19 in York County, as of December 2.
The open outbreak investigations in the city include Sanford High School, the Newton Center, and the Goodall construction site.
At his press briefing on Wednesday, Dr. Shah gave the definition of a “close contact.” A close contact is someone you have been within 6 feet of, for a total of 15 minutes or more, in a 24 hour period. He also explained the difference between quarantine, which is for people who have been in contact with a Covid-19 case, and isolation, which is for people who are Covid positive.
