Have you visited the Victoria Mansion in Portland during the Christmas season? It showcases an elegant holiday display in a beautiful old building, but right here in Springvale we have our own version. The Goodwin House at 503 Main St. in Springvale can provide you with a sense of what Christmas might have been like in our town 124 years ago. Built in 1899, the Goodwin House is owned by the Sanford Springvale Historical Society and is located next door to the Historical Museum. The Goodwin House is a step back in time with original furniture, light fixtures and even 124-year-old wallpaper. At this time of the year, the house is decorated in what would have been typical Victorian fashion. Free tours are available from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm every Saturday until Christmas. Come see this little-known gem and experience Christmas 1899 style.
