News Notes: May 7, 2021

The Sanford Police Department would like recognize members of the Sanford-Springvale Rotary, Sanford Housing Authority, Great Bay Services, Catholic Diocese of Maine, YMCA and the Knights of Columbus (pictured above) for participating in Thursday’s clean-up of a former homeless encampment at the Notre Dame Cemetery in Springvale.  Sixteen volunteers participated in the effort organized by Ofc. Officer Eric Small Commended

Sanford’s Community Outreach Officer Eric Small received a letter of commendation this week for his work with Sanford residents experiencing homelessness and substance use disorder. YCCAC: A Powerhouse of Help

At the City Council meeting on April 6, Barbara Crider, Executive Director of York County Community Action Corp., gave a presentation on the agency’s pandemic operations and Sanford-specific resources. The agency has an annual payroll of $10 million and pays approximately $72,000 in property taxes to the City. 160 of the agency’s 220 full-time employees are based in Sanford.
