School Nurses Give Presentation

Sanford’s five school nurses gave a joint presentation via Zoom at the October 19 School Committee meeting. Amy Humphrey, RN, from Carl J. Lamb School, explained that school nurses aren’t just nurses who work in schools; it’s a specialty like cardiac or emergency nursing, that requires special training. School Sports & Activities Get the Green Light

by Matt Nelson, Superintendent of Schools The Maine Centers for Disease Control and Maine Department of Education announced on Friday that York County is moving back to green according to its Health Advisory System rating (red, yellow, green). This was an additional, interim assessment; government agencies will resume their normal bi-weekly review next Friday. Flu Clinics for Sanford Students

Sanford schools will host influenza vaccination clinics following COVID-19 safety guidelines at each school this fall. They are collaborating with Northern Light Home Care and Hospice to provide these free clinics to Sanford students. See the schedule below. Parents of in-person learners must return their child’s completed vaccination form to their school nurse by Monday, October 19th.  Distance learners must pre-register for their vaccinations here and bring the completed vaccination form with them to the clinic.   All clinics will administer injectable vaccines.…

School Committee 10/5 Meeting Summary

At the Sanford School Committee’s regular meeting on October 5, the following items were among those presented or discussed: Superintendent of Schools Matt Nelson gave an update on the construction projects at the schools.
