Police Department Update

Calls for Service: In May, the Sanford Police Department addressed a total of 3,477 calls for service, involving various incidents. These included 191 instances of 911 hang-ups, 53 reported thefts, and 34 domestic disturbances. The Mental Health Unit (MHU), a crucial department component, responded to 111 calls throughout the month. Within this figure, there were 52 calls specifically related to mental health concerns. Fire Department Update

This past week Calls for Service: In May, the Sanford Fire Department received 386 service calls. Among these, there were 14 fire-related calls, including 4 building fires and 4 forest/wildland fires. The majority of calls were EMS-related, with the fire department responding to 255 incidents excluding vehicle accidents with injuries. Mocha is Back Home!

Many Sanford residents have been anxiously following the story of Mocha, a 1 1/2 year old brown mini-labradoodle who went missing from her State St. home on January 6, not long after being adopted. Sanford Animal Control Officer Lauren Masellas and Maine Lost Dog Recovery (MLDR) volunteers followed up on tips from the public to track her down.
