Newly Improved Parking Lot Damaged

From a press release Ruts have been churned into a recently upgraded trailhead parking lot off Stanley Road in Springvale, causing an estimated $1,200 damage. The parking lot is the primary access point to the popular Indian’s Last Leap on the Mousam Way Trail. The improvements to the parking lot were a collaboration between the Trails Committee and Central Maine Power Company, which recently rebuilt a substation. Water District Shuts Down Well Due to PFAS Contamination

Press Release The Sanford Water District has discontinued using one of its six active groundwater sources of supply after recent test samples exceeded the Maine drinking water limit for perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). “The excessive rain we’ve had over the summer appears to possibly have affected some of our groundwater, increasing the exposure level to these contaminants,” said David Parent, superintendent of the water district.
