Hay Brook Bridge Ordered Closed

The City of Sanford was notified this week that if it does not take action to close Hay Brook Bridge, which carries Bernier/Stone Rd. over Hay Brook at the border with Alfred, by October 7, 2022, the Maine Department of Transportation will close it to all traffic, including pedestrians. A “Bridge Closed Ahead sign” will be placed at the nearest intersection on each end to allow overload vehicles to use an alternate route. The Sanford Springvale Call Firefighters will hold a memorial ceremony October 16, 2022 to remember fallen members from Sanford and other local Fire Departments. Clinical Social Worker Joins the Mental Health Unit

The Sanford Police Department recently welcomed a new member to its Mental Health Unit, which primarily works to help homeless people and those with substance abuse problems in our community. Shannon Bentley is a clinical social worker who will focus in particular on getting unhoused residents and those in crisis the services they need.
