Downtown Buildings Getting Facelifts

A couple of Sanford’s most visible downtown buildings are getting much-needed exterior improvements under their new owners. Midtown Mall Parking Lot Project Approved

After many months of delays and modifications, the planned improvements to the city-owned Midtown Mall parking lot were approved by the Planning Board on July 7. The project includes a new pedestrian walkway through the middle of the parking lot, to connect Main St. with the stairway to the lower mall area. Sanford's Planning Board and Site Plan Review Committee are keeping busy this spring approving many new projects. Airport Plaza Storage Expansion At its meeting on April 20, the Site Plan Review Committee approved plans for the expansion of the Airport Plaza storage facility located at 1725 Main St. The owner, Patco Construction, plans to build a new 4,600 sq. ft. storage building on the property. Convenient MD Coming to a Roundabout Near You

Convenient MD, a chain of urgent care clinics, will soon begin construction on their newest location at the intersection of Main St. and Alfred Rd., at the roundabout in South Sanford. The Site Plan Review Committee granted conditional approval to the project at their meeting on April 6. Planning Board Approves Solar Facility at Former CGA Site

On March 3, the Planning Board approved a new solar power facility on three parcels of land at 229 New Dam Road. One parcel is the former CGA site, which was taken by the City of Sanford in 2010 for back taxes. The other two parcels are owned by the Maine Turnpike Authority.
