Holdsworth Park Closing to the Public on Camp Days

At its meeting on July 19, 2022, the City Council voted to close Holdsworth Park (better known as the Springvale Rec) to the public between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays through August 5. The closure was requested by Parks and Recreation Director Brady Lloyd. The City Council's Municipal Operations and Property Subcommittee met with City staff on June 14. This is a summary of items presented and discussed. Midtown Mall: The proposal for the Midtown Mall Development District and Maintenance Assessment was discussed. Community Development Director Ian Houseal told the Subcommittee members that his analysis shows a 60% assessment for property owners and 40% for City would be reasonable (initially, a two-thirds/one-third split was proposed). Sanford Parks and Recreation staff are once again offering three different camp experiences for the kids this summer, and this year they will be better than ever.
