The Shoreline Explorer trolleys, with service from York to Kennebunk, will begin running for the summer season on June 26. Melinda Graffam has organized a fundraiser for the Bennett family, whose home on Railroad Ave. was destroyed by fire on May 20. Residents and staff from the Newton Center transferred to their brand new space next door at Summer Commons this past week. Summer Commons, pictured above, is a new state-of-the-art licensed 64-bed skilled nursing care center combined with a 30-bed assisted living unit specializing in Memory Care. It is managed by North Country Associates, a Maine-based company with facilities across the state and in Massachusetts. Once the Newton Center is completely cleared out, it will be demolished. Absentee ballots are now available for the June 8 School Budget Validation Referendum Election. In-person, safe and socially distanced absentee voting is happening Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the 3rd floor Council Chambers Anyone who needs to register to vote should submit an application no later than May 18.
