The 6th Annual Springvale Farm Walk, happening Sunday, July 25, will give you an opportunity to visit some places and farms you might not normally get to see. Congratulations to the 2021 Sanford Babe Ruth champions, Bowl A Rama/ Toth Investment Inc./ Lafayette! In the end-of-season awards, Caden Fontaine, Ben Gill, Tanner McCann, and Andrew Dumond were each presented with the Tylar Burgess MVP award. Some NBA star power came to Springvale on Thursday, when former Boston Celtic Enes Kanter put on a free basketball clinic for kids at the Nasson Community Center. Mr. Kanter, who currently plays for the Portland (OR) Trail Blazers provided two hours of instruction, did a Q&A, signed autographs, posed for pictures and bought pizza for everyone. The Hazen Carpenter Trail, a loop that circles Deering Pond, was dedicated on Thursday, July 1, with about 30 people in attendance. The Trail is the result of five years of work by members of the Sanford-Springvale Rotary Club and the Mousam Way Land Trust. Mr. Carpenter, a lifelong resident of Springvale, was also honored as a Paul Harris Fellow, the highest recognition that Rotary International bestows. Sanford firefighters past and present gathered to celebrate the life of George Driscoll, retired Chief of the Sanford Fire Department, following his funeral on June 19. He became a firefighter in 1961, Chief in 1970, and retired from the Department in 1982. He was also a devoted member of St. George’s Episcopal Church. He passed away on June 12 at the age of 92. July 6 will be Military Appreciation Night at the Sanford Mainers game, with free admission for…
