First Responders: The Sanford Police Department this week welcomed Officer Brett Tishim to the force. Ofc. Tishim has an associate's degree in Criminal Justice and proudly served in the United States Army. He is a certified officer and has worked for the Wells PD for the past eight years. Following several weeks of training, he will be assigned to a patrol shift. The Spartans Varsity Football team had all the right moves at the Homecoming game on Friday night, besting the Red Eddies of Edward Little High School by a score of 48-8. Members of the Southern Maine Sno-Goers snowmobile club worked hard last Sunday on the Springvale Farm Trail. Jim Roux, Stephen Givens, Daniel Thayer, and Chris Letourneau cleared a wet section of the trail that had become very over grown and where groomers have gotten stuck in the past. There was a great turnout for the 2nd Annual Heart, Peace and Love For Kids 5K Walk which started from Gowen Park on Saturday, September 17. Many Sanford businesses and organizations helped sponsor the event, which raised money for Chace Fromwiller in his fight against cancer. Adam Mcleod were part of a team that was awarded Best Squad at the state's 240th Regional Training Institute, held September 9-11.
