Wreaths Across America: On November 21, Rolling Thunder Chapter 1 Maine announced that they were far short of the number of wreaths needed to decorate every veteran’s grave at the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery this year, so they were instead going to put large wreaths at the section markers and monument locations. November 22 is the deadline to register to take part in the Holly Daze Parade. The parade will at 5:30pm on December 2 at the intersection of Emery St and Main St ending at St. Ignatius St. The Tree Lighting will happen around 6:15pm. School News Notes: November 13, 2022

Sanford High School students are getting in the Thanksgiving spirit with their annual Peer Helpers food drive. Each class has been assigned a food item to collect (instant mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and gravy, canned vegetables or stuffing), and the class that collects the most items will win a movie in the Performing Arts Center. Sanford was well represented at the Elks’ State Soccer Shoot in Bangor last month. Of the eight state champions, two were from Sanford: Bella Savoy (Girls Under 10 Champ) and Rihanna Provencher (Girls Under 12 Champ). The Elks Soccer Shoot program is designed to keep youth focused on positive activities.
