Mayflower Place Assisted Living will be transitioning to independent apartments for seniors at the end of June. Those residents who need more care than can be provided by visiting homecare services will be placed in other facilities. The building is owned by Sanford Housing Authority, and services have been provided by North Country Associates, a private company, since they took over the business from Southern Maine Health Care in 2021. Congratulations to the 7th grade boys of Sanford Spartans Youth Basketball (pictured above with coaches Keith Lolley and Keith Gendron) for winning the Southern Maine Hoops League Championship in an exciting game vs. Windham 34-33! The 5th and 6th grade girls’ team won in the Semifinal round vs. Gorham and will be playing in the Championship next weekend. Go Spartans! On February 6, Bowl-a-Rama hosted “The Ladies Vs. On Thursday, January 19, the Rotary Club of Sanford-Springvale celebrated its 100th birthday!  The Club will dedicate this entire year to honoring a century of service to the community and the world, through observances of many projects which have benefited those in need all over the world. News Notes: January 22, 2023

The Sanford Fire Department was busy with mutual aid calls this week as well as their own work. On the early morning of January 18, Sanford firefighters helped battle a commercial structure fire near the intersection of Route 202 and Mountain Rd. in Alfred (see photo). On January 20, the Department was called to a structure fire on River Rd. in Lebanon. The SFD also was occupied with motor vehicle accidents, downed trees and power lines due to the storm.…
