Fires The Sanford Fire Department responded to a few fires in the three-week period from November 7 through 27. On the afternoon of November 9, a report of a house fire on Home St. brought out all companies with mutual aid. Upon investigation, it turned out to be a small leaf fire caused by a cigarette. Fires On Monday, October 25, six units of the Sanford Fire Department were called out to a chimney fire on Devotion Ave. Fortunately, the structure of the building was not involved. In the early hours of October 27, Engine 4 responded to a generator fire on Provencher Ln. No injuries were reported. 8 New Firefighters Join SFD

Eight new recruits have recently joined the Sanford Fire Department, two in new positions and six replacements. Some are local and some will be moving to the area from away. Experience levels range from relatively new to the industry, to five years on another professional department. One is an EMT-Advanced, one is in paramedic school, and the rest are EMT-Basics.  The recruits have spent their first two weeks learning and bonding with each other and the current firefighters. Smoke and Fire On October 13, the crew of Engine 4 dealt with a mulch fire in a parking lot on Main St. Later that day, five units were called out to a report of a possible fire on International Dr. However, firefighters found only smoke, no fire.
