The meeting was called to order half an hour late because the Council was in executive session. Councilor Lucas Lanigan led the Pledge of Allegiance and asked for a moment of silence. City Attorneys File For Dismissal of Lanigan Case

Attorneys for the City of Sanford have filed documents with the Superior Court in response to a lawsuit brought by City Councilor Lucas Lanigan regarding his temporary removal from subcommittee assignments by Mayor Anne-Marie Mastraccio. Mayor Mastraccio took the action at the February 2 City Council meeting, followimg complaints about a post on Councilor Lanigan’s personal Facebook page, in which he appeared to be calling for the elimination of the school budget as well as the teachers’ union. Lanigan Sues Mayor, City Over Removal From Subcommittees

City Councilor Lucas Lanigan has filed suit in York County Superior Court, naming Mayor Anne-Marie Mastraccio, the Sanford City Council and the City of Sanford as defendants. The suit stems from Councilor Lanigan’s removal from his Council Subcommittee assignments by Mayor Mastraccio last month, following a controversial post on his personal Facebook page.
