Sanford will return to celebrating Independence Day in style this year, with activities planned for both July 3rd and 4th.
On Sunday, July 3rd, there will be a Block Party at Number One Pond, with a big variety of vendors lined up. Among the food vendors will be Gotta Be Frank, Brothers Concession (funnel cakes, lemonade, fried oreos & twinkies, ice cream), Calvary Baptist Church (popcorn, lemonade & water), Daigle’s Dogs (hot dogs, snacks and drinks), Wicked Good Dogs (hot dogs, hamburgers, sausage and chili) Domino’s Pizza and T&D Concessions with three trailers of food.
Other booths lined up so far include St. Baldrick’s Foundation (head shaving in solidarity with kids with cancer), Walt-King Sticks & more (customized wood crafts), Melissa Lathrop (crafts and other oddities), York County Community Action, Trisha Deye of State Farm (swag and insurance info), Phoenix Elite Dance Co., Dance Studio of Maine, State Senate candidate Kendra Williams, Matthew Leggett of the Sanford ATV Club, YC Craft and more.
At 6:00 p.m., Maine Attraction Water Ski Show Team will start their warmups, and the show begins at 6:30. At 7:30, the band Fireball will entertain with hits of the ’80s and ’90s. Fireworks begin at dusk, around 9:00-ish.
Please note that if rain is expected on Sunday, all these events will be moved to Saturday, 7/2.
On Monday the 4th, there will be a parade down Main St., from Malcolm Ave. to Gowen Park. Parade participants will start lining up at 9:00 a.m. and things will get moving at 10:00. If it’s as good as the Memorial Day Parade, it should be great! See you there and Happy 246th Birthday America!
