Congratulations to the 2021 Sanford Babe Ruth champions, Bowl A Rama/ Toth Investment Inc./ Lafayette! In the end-of-season awards, Caden Fontaine, Ben Gill, Tanner McCann, and Andrew Dumond were each presented with the Tylar Burgess MVP award. The Tylar Burgess MVP award is given to one player from each team to recognize their success on the field. Isaiah Cole was presented with the AJ Davis award, given to a player who gives 110%, lifts everyone up and lives their life to the fullest with passion, enthusiasm, and optimism.
Current Deputy Police Chief Craig Andersen will be affirmed by the City Council as Sanford’s next Chief of Police at its meeting on Tuesday, July 20. The meeting, held in the Council Chambers at City Hall, will also mark the City Council’s return to in-person meetings. Remote access via Zoom, YouTube, Channel 26 and Town Hall Streams will continue to be available.

Sanford Sound‘s 25th Annual Show & Shine North American Decibel League 3x, is happening Sunday, July 25th at 1438 Main St. This is a 3x event, Termlab certified runs, $25 SPL, $25 Bass Brawlin, $25 Demo Animal/Beast/Monster or Powerwheels ($40 for 2 classes, $60 for all 3). All vehicles parked in the event area MUST be registered for at least 1 class, NO DEMO ONLY VEHICLES! Demo Friendly event! Trophies for 1st-3rd in SPL/Bass Brawlin classes, 1st only in Demo Animal/Beast/Monster/PowerWheels classes. [Editor’s note: we have no idea what any of this means, but it sounds fun!]

On July 23, York County Government is closing its comment period regarding the use of funds under the American Rescue Plan. Those who wish to submit comments and suggestions are encouraged to do so by the close of business on July 23rd. Comments may be submitted in writing to the County Commissioners by e-mail to Kathy Dumont at kadumont@yorkcountymaine.gov with the subject heading, “ARP Funding.”
