Absentee ballots are now available for the June 8 School Budget Validation Referendum Election. In-person, safe and socially distanced absentee voting is happening Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the 3rd floor Council Chambers Anyone who needs to register to vote should submit an application no later than May 18. The ‘Closed Period,’ which is 20 days prior to any election, begins on Wednesday May 19. This means all registrations must be done in person in the Clerk’s Office. A photo ID and proof of residency will be required from all. For more information see the public notice.
Is your family or organization planning a trash cleanup event to help keep Sanford looking great? If you want to be able to take the trash and recyclables to the transfer station without paying a disposal fee, there is a form to fill out in advance. You can pick it up at the Department of Public Works office, 156 School St., from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; or call 324-9133. Trash must be picked up from within a public way, not on private property. Items will be accepted or rejected at discretion of transfer station staff. If you are picking up adjacent to the roadway, a traffic control permit is also required.
The house at 12 Proulx Ct. in Springvale is scheduled for demolition this week. This is the next step in a lengthy process undertaken by the Land Bank Authority, which will enable a new home to be built on the property.
Sanford Community Adult Education has partnered with Sanford Regional Technical Center, York County Community College, and Maine Quality Centers to offer a certified welding program to qualified Maine state residents for free this summer. Limited space is available. Applicants are evaluated through qualification criteria, application materials, interviews, and skill tests.
