Waban is gearing up for their 50th annual telethon on March 20. This year raffle tickets will be sold online only. They have some great items you can win, including a new Apple iPad, a kayak from LL Bean, a new recliner from Landry’s Furniture Barn, and much more. The St. Thomas Council of the Knights of Columbus is offering a carry-out haddock dinner on Friday, March 5. Includes baked haddock, mashed potatoes, peas, cole slaw, tartar sauce, and 2 chocolate chip cookies, all for just $12 per meal! For planning purposes, meals must be pre-ordered and pre-paid. They will be available for pick-up at the Saint Ignatius Gymnasium (125 Riverside Avenue, Sanford) from 5:00-6:00pm. Pre-order and pre-pay at https://stthomascouncil.square.site.

The Springvale Library is having an online auction fundraiser to kick off Library Week, which is the first week in April. They have received some awesome donations so far, including a weekend getaway at Wells Beach, $400 teeth whitening at Great East Dental, golfing for 4 with a cart at Sanford Country Club, a gourmet meal delivered to the winner’s home, a car detailing package from Marc Motors, a handcrafted pair of BERNIE mittens – plus gift cards, themed baskets and more. Additional donations would be very welcome to help make this a great event for the Library.

During the month of March, Willard School will be celebrating “Read Across America.” Each day they will celebrate by reading different books, and wearing a silly outfit. Virtual Guest Readers will visit and share books by video. One of these will be up-and-coming Maine author, Lyn Smith.  Her first book is “What Makes an Opossum Tick?,” illustrated by Jamie Hogan.
