Stephen “Steve” Harrison Sr., 72, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and loved ones on September 21, 2024. Steve was born in Sanford on July 30, 1952, to James and Carolyn (Stevens) Harrison. Auto racing was Steve’s passion. He wanted to be a professional race car driver, but his eyesight wouldn’t allow it, so instead, he became quite an aficionado in race trivia. Steve frequented several flea markets in New England. He enjoyed the hunt for that special item. Steve will be remembered for his ability to strike up a conversation with just about anybody on any topic. He definitely had the gift of gab. He used it to find commonality with strangers, and by the time they said their goodbyes, he had won them over. Steve is survived by his mother, Carolyn Harrison; children Stephen Harrison, Jr., Angela Harrison, and Scott Harrison; siblings Daniel Harrison, Alan Harrison, Beth Burchill, and Ellen Harrison; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Steve’s favorite job was working in the Maintenance Department for the Kittery School system. He loved children and was proud to provide a service to the teachers who taught them.
