SPAC Extends Free Live Streaming Performance Series

SPAC Extends Free Live Streaming Performance Series

by Brett Williams

The Sanford Performing Arts Center is pleased to announce the extension of our “Free For All” series with three additional performances in December. Like the initial series of four shows, these performances will be available to watch for free from the comfort of your home via live video stream thanks to our partnership with Sanford’s “Wear a Mask and Keep Your Six” public health campaign.

The homegrown “Free For All” series features musicians and artists from Maine whose industry has been impacted the most by the pandemic and the shutdown of live performance venues. All performances will run about 75 minutes with no intermission, so plan your snacks and drinks accordingly!

The new lineup includes:

A Holiday Prelude with the DaPonte String Quartet: Saturday, December 5 at 7:00pm

The DaPonte String Quartet, Maine’s premier string ensemble, will brighten your spirits this holiday season with a evening of classical music. Tune in to our live stream to see why the DSQ was voted “Best Musical Group” in Maine (in all music genres) for 2014 by readers of Down East Magazine. Light a candle, dim the lights, and curl up on the couch to experience a magical evening of music. This performance will be streaming live via WSSR at: https://youtu.be/-YuizDN_w2c

The Mallett Brothers Band: Saturday, December 12 at 7:00pm

The Mallett Brothers Band is an independent rock and roll / Americana / country band from Maine. Their busy tour schedule since forming in 2009 has helped them to build a dedicated fanbase across the U.S. and beyond while still calling the state of Maine their home. With a style that ranges from alt-country to Americana, country, jam and roots rock, theirs is a musical melting pot that’s influenced equally by the singer/songwriter tradition as by harder rock, classic country and psychedelic sounds. This performance will be streaming live via WSSR at: https://youtu.be/EExcXEMRqsg

Classical Uprising’s “SING WE NOËL”: Saturday, December 19 – 7:00pm

Experience “Sing We Noël” – Maine’s wonderful new holiday musical tradition! This family-friendly concert includes sing-along Christmas carols, and inspiring performances of holiday classics. Dr. Emily Isaacson conducts the Oratorio Chorale, Portland Brass Quintet, Classical Uprising Youth Chorus, and other celebrated Maine musicians.  This performance will be streaming live via WSSR at: https://youtu.be/1SsPoxy7MXc
