Do you know a patriotic student in grades 6-8 who could use $5,000 and would enjoy an all-expense paid trip to our nation’s capital? Encourage them to enter the VFW and Auxiliary Patriot’s Pen essay contest. Each year, more than 138,000 middle/junior high school students from across the country compete for $900,000 in state and national awards with each first-place state winner receiving a minimum of $500 at the national level. This year’s theme is “What is Patriotism to Me?”
Do you know a local student in grades 9-12 who could use up to $30,000 for college? Encourage them to enter the VFW and Auxiliary Voice of Democracy audio-essay scholarship competition. Each year, nearly 50,000 high school students from across the country enter to win a share of the $1.9 million in educational scholarships and incentives awarded through this program. This year’s theme is “Is This the Country the Founders Envisioned?”
Entries must be submitted to James Bachelder at VFW Post 9935 no later than midnight on October 31, 2020.
