Sanford’s annual Holly Daze parade and tree lighting will be held Friday, Dec. 1. Parks and Recreation Director Brady Lloyd told the City Council this week that a parade route was selected during a safety meeting held with Police, Fire and Public Works personnel. This year, parade participants will line up on Emerson Street (next to St. George’s Episcopal Church) and south from there down Shawmut Avenue. If additional space is needed, West Elm Street will be used. This will get the lineup away from School Street and should allow for a safer and less busy area to line up, he said. The parade will proceed north on Main St., go past the Main Street Marketplace and turn right to end on St. Ignatius Street. The parade will begin at 5:30 pm, with tree lighting in Central Park by Santa and Mrs. Claus to follow around 6:15. The deadline to register to participate in the parade is November 21 and there is a $25 fee.
