John A. Achenbach, 83, of Sanford, died Tuesday, October 10, 2023, in Scarborough of Covid19. He was born in Easton, Pennsylvania on January 28, 1940, the son of John and Mary Achenbach. He grew up in Easton and went by the name Jack. John was in the Air Force, serving eight years. He moved to several places around the country, eventually settling in Sanford. He worked as a handyman. John is predeceased by his parents; his ex-wife Suzanne, his son, Sean Achenbach and his granddaughter, Andrea Achenbach. He is survived by his son, Michael Achenbach and his wife, Robin of North Carolina; his grandchildren, Amie, Paige, and Amber Achenbach.

Donna M. Hupe, 76, passed away peacefully on October 24th, 2023, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. Donna was born on August 26, 1947, in Troupsburg, New York, to Donald and Dorothea (Boardman) Morrison. The family moved to Saco and then later to Sanford. This is where she met and married Donald Hupe, Sr. and after 38 years, they divorced. She was a Certified Nursing Aide and worked at Maine Stay Nursing Home and other area facilities. Later, she worked as an intake specialist for UNUM for several years and then Home Health for 16 years. Donna spent much of her time reading as she was an avid reader and particularly enjoyed reading mysteries. Donna enjoyed connecting with friends and particularly her granddaughter, Jackie through Facebook. Donna is survived by two sons, Donald Jr. and Douglas Hupe and their spouses, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of Sanford; two brothers, Donald Morrison of Sanford and David Morrison and his wife, Christine of Shapleigh, with whom she lived for the past three years; sisters-in-law, Claire Morrison of Sanford, Lorraine Rodrigue of Shapleigh; Sandra of Acton and Nancy of Shapleigh, brothers-in-law Richard Hupe and wife, Ruth of Berwick and Maurice Hupe of Shapleigh, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Ernestine M. Lovell, of Shapleigh passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 28, 2023, just one day shy of her 102nd birthday. She was born on October 29, 1921, to Ernest and Helen (Moreau) Thibodeau in Presque Isle, Maine. When she was three years old, the family moved to Sanford where she grew up and attended local schools. On February 15,1950, she married Richard H. Lovell, and they shared many wonderful years together until his passing in 2007. She enjoyed cooking and baking, winning awards with her delectable entries at the Acton Fair. She also enjoyed exercising at the Trafton Senior Center in Sanford for over 30 years. Ernestine read anything she could get her hands on. She was never satisfied with her formal education and finally attended Adult Education and received her diploma at the age of 65. She knew so much of Sanford’s history. With her excellent knowledge of life in Sanford, Ernestine could tell you of other residents’ marriages, offspring, careers; who left town for other adventures and so on. Survivors include her son Thomas Lovell of New York, Sandra White, and her husband, David of Shapleigh, 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 10:00 am at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church. Burial was at Forest Grove Cemetery in Lebanon.
