Patricia Bowen Beals, 79, died suddenly at home in Springvale on Monday Sept. 18 with her devoted husband and longtime primary caregiver by her side. She had been fighting a courageous battle with numerous debilitating health issues for the past several years. A native of Sanford, Patty had a varied career before earning her Master of Education degree from USM and becoming an elementary teacher in the Sanford school system. She and her husband Ellis recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 pm at Carll-Heald and Black Funeral Home on Saturday, Sept. 30. The funeral service is scheduled for 2 pm Sunday, Oct. 1 at Crossroads United Methodist Church. Burial will take place at 10 am Tuesday Oct. 3 at the Southern Maine Veterans’ Cemetery. Darlene D. Spencer, 61, of Shapleigh passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, Sept. 19 at Maine Medical Center. A native of Sanford, she attended local schools and worked at local businesses including Jagger Brothers, Bonanza and Shaw’s Supermarket. Darlene was a sweet, caring person who placed the needs of others above her own, and was always ready to lend a hand. She is survived by her husband, Wayne Spencer, son Dan Collins and his partner Courtney Cameron, and many other friends and family members. A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023 at 1 pm at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford. A Celebration of life will be held at a time to be announced. Alberta M. Sevigny, 94, of Springvale passed away suddenly on Thursday, Sept. 21 at Maine Medical Center in Portland. She was born in Sanford and attended Holy Family School. Alberta and her late husband Francois operated Memory Lane Gift Shop and she displayed her oil paintings and other works of art at the Centre Artistra gallery in Springvale. She was also a published poet. She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother to her six children, grandmother and great grandmother. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Wednesday, Sept, 27 at Holy Family Church in Sanford, with interment to follow at Notre Dame Cemetery in Springvale. Thomas Merrow White, 83, a longtime resident of Springvale, passed away at Southridge Rehabilitation & Living Center in Biddeford on Sept. 23. Thomas graduated from high school in Stratton, ME where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Nile on November 28, 1959. He worked for many years as an oil burner. He is survived by his loving children Stanley (Pamela), Benjamin (Melissa), Shirley Langlais (Phil), and Paula White; sister Virginia Eastman; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Barbara, son Daniel White, and daughter Anita White Howes. Thomas and his amazing sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Calling hours will be held from 2-3 pm on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at Bibber Memorial at Autumn Green in Alfred. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
