Great Bay volunteers deliver meals.
Press Release
The Meals on Wheels program recently moved to 27 Mayflower Dr. in Sanford and, as ever, is looking for volunteers to pack meals and deliver them.
The Southern Maine Agency on Aging extends thanks to the Sanford Housing Authority for donating the use of their great kitchen, which provides good access to storage and freezer space, and also to Shains of Maine, which donated space for the past five years. Community partners such as these make it possible for Meals on Wheels to provide their services to older adults who need support.
If you think you would like to volunteer, please call 207-396-6539 or email volunteer@smaaa.org. This is very rewarding work, takes only a few hours a week and you meet some really great folks.
Southern Maine Agency on Aging has provided the meals program to the Sanford-Springvale community since 1973. Currently the program provides about 560 nutritious meals to 110 qualifying older adults in our community each week. All meals are planned to meet the individual dietary needs of the recipient and delivered by dedicated volunteers on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you think that you or a friend or family member qualify for this program, please call 207-396-6500.
