The Sanford Arts Commission created a fun new event for the Sanford Springvale community and the downtown was filled with curious people wanting to know what it was all about. On Friday evening, the Arts Advisory Commission to the City of Sanford hosted its first Art Walk. 35 artists set up tables along Main Street to display and sell their work along with Addy’s Food Truck and a Celtic Trio that played in front of Frannies’s Mini Donuts.

Eight Arts Commissioners, including chair Evelyn Nitzberg, were available to answer questions as artists arrived on Main Street between Washington Street and the Mid Town Mall.

Future events are scheduled for September 8th and October 13th (2nd Fridays), also from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and are free for both artists and attendees. North Parish Congregational Church and a few local businesses have invited the commission to allow artists to set up indoors so the events can continue when the weather gets colder. The requirements are simple – artists and crafters should bring their own tables to set up in a 4’x6’ space leaving at least 4’ between their set up and the curb. They do not need to be Sanford residents. All items must be hand crafted by the seller. Interested artists and crafters should contact Evelyn Nitzberg, for more details evelynnitzbergart1@gmail.com.
