Sanford/Springvale Little League team reaches Championship Game of District Tournament
The Sanford/Springvale Little League team narrowly missed out on qualifying for the Maine State Little League tournament after losing to Biddeford, 2-1, in nine innings in the championship game of the District 4 bracket on July 15th.
Sanford/Springvale opened the District 4 tournament with a 3-1 loss to Saco/Dayton but won consecutive games to stay alive and set up a rematch. Sanford/Springvale held on for a 2-1 win, then beat Massabesic, 5-3, to reach the championship game.
Sanford 13-15 All-Stars finish second in Babe Ruth All-Star Tournament
Sanford Babe Ruth’s 13-15 All-Stars finished second in the Babe Ruth All-Star tournament in Augusta. Sanford suffered a 2-1 loss to the Capital Area All-Stars before winning games over Franklin, 15-5, and Midcoast, 12-8, to reach the championship game of the tournament. Sanford lost the championship game, 8-4, to Capital Area.
