Upcoming Events

Feb 4th @ 2:00pm: Acrylic Painting Workshop (all slots full): Reminder to those who have already signed up for our painting workshop to arrive by 2pm on Feb 4th. The event will be held in our library’s Community Room and is hosted by local artist Michelle McDaniel. Please let us know ASAP if you are no longer able to attend this workshop so we can open up a spot to someone on our waiting list. We hope to host similar events in the future, so if you didn’t get a spot this time no worries! Keep an eye out for future dates.

Feb 9th – Feb 14th: Take-Home Valentine Craft Kits Available: Some delightful valentine-themed craft kits will be available in our front lobby while supplies last. Crafts are suggested for ages 4 and up. The storytime theme on 2/14 will match the holiday, too!

Feb 11th @ 1:00pm-1:30pm: Free Puzzle Exchange: Calling all puzzlers! Bring your unwanted jigsaw puzzles from home and trade them in for others at the library. Please make sure puzzles have all their pieces, no pet hair, and come from a smoke-free home. 

Feb 17th @ 11:00am: AWS Presents: Furry Tales Story Time: Join us for this fun and educational event hosted by Amanda Zimmerman, the Youth Outreach Coordinator from Kennebunk’s Animal Welfare Society. Bring your children for a story, song, and most exciting – an animal friend visit! This month will feature Norman the Guinea Pig, and children will be able to pet and even hold him in a comfortable, expert-led setting. Future visits from other animal friends to follow! 

Feb 25th: End of the Winter Reading Program: Be sure to log all of your winter reading books into Beanstack by February 25th! Kids can pick up prizes they’ve earned as they go any time this month. Teens and adults have digital raffle tickets they can enter to win a number of great gift cards – ask a librarian if you need help or want to double check that they’ve been entered correctly. Raffle drawings will take place at 4pm on the 25th and winners will be contacted the following Monday. Keep up the great work reading!

Reminders

The library has sleds of varying types and sizes for all ages available for checkout. All you need is a library card in good standing, and you can have the sleds for 1 week at a time. Perfect for all this recent winter weather.

Our Community Room is available for booking meetings, events, and study time if you need a private space. It is free for nonprofit groups and is available to for-profit groups for a fee of $50/hour. You can pick up a form to reserve the room at our front desk, download one from our FAQ page at lbgoodall.org, or fill out our (brand new!) online form for added convenience, now featured on our website’s home page. Our library guinea pigs, Winnie and Wilbur, have been a huge hit and we are so grateful for the positive response they’ve gotten since their introduction at the start of January. They are typically here in the Children’s Room on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, and also some alternating Fridays and Saturdays. Patrons of all ages are encouraged to visit with them, learn about them, and best of all, read to them. If you are interested in donating any treats, bedding, toys, food, or other items to the pigs’ habitat here at the library, please check out our Amazon wish list linked in on the Children’s Page of our website at lbgoodall.org. 

Our weekly Lego Club continues on Wednesdays from 2:30pm – 4:30pm. It is a great early-release program and is a welcome space for all young people who wish to build something creative out of Lego blocks and have it put on display. Lego Club is suggested for ages 5-12; children aged 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult. 

Our weekly Story Times are on Tuesday mornings. Baby/Toddler Rhyme Time (suggested for ages 0-3) is at 10:30am and features songs, finger plays, and book exploration, and Pre-K Story Time (suggested for ages 3-6) is at 11:00am and features 1-2 stories read aloud plus a fun related craft activity.
