#FrommieStrong: Thursday, October 6, the community came out in a big way as 12-year-old Chace “Frommie” Fromwiller was named Honorary Captain of the Spartans Varsity Football team at the game against Massabesic. With lights flashing and sirens blaring, the Sanford Fire and Police Departments led the way to Alumni Stadium. Assisted by his older brothers, Chace took the team to the field as the Cheerleading squad held a giant “Fight Like Frommie” banner. The opposing team even held their own banner that read “Mustang Nation’s Got Your Back!” Chace has been back and forth to Seattle for treatment of his very aggressive cancer, which has spread from his brain to his spine. If you would like to help his family with expenses, please visit the GoFundMe page here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/chace-strong.
CJL Cleanup: For the second year in a row, the Carl J. Lamb PTA held a school clean up. Several families came out to volunteer their time. They picked up trash, weeded both the front garden bed as well as the entire playground. They used blowers and brooms to sweep the mulch back in place and clear the pavement of sand. They also added fall decorations, including mums and corn stalks that were also sold for a PTA fundraiser.
Helping Hands: 7th and 8th grade students from Mr. Scott’s class at Sanford Christian Academy pitched in recently to stack firewood for John Hastings, a former teacher at the school who had shoulder surgery a month or so ago. SCA calls these missions “love in action” projects.
Family of the Month: The Knights of Columbus St. Thomas Council has selected the Family of Rick and Rebecca Southwick as Family of the Month for the month of September 2022. Rick and Rebecca have been happily married for 49 years. They are proud parents of a son Jason and a daughter Sharon. They also have four grandchildren.
