If you’ve driven down High St. this past week, you probably noticed some big changes at Sanford Christian Academy. They are renovating and adding new classrooms.

The Mini-Marland Campers of the Sanford-Springvale YMCA celebrated super hero week last week with a visit from the superheroes from the Sanford Fire Department.

Raiden Cruz, a recent graduate of the SRTC Building Trades Program and Noble High School, is completing the Sargent Construction Academy this summer and is doing great things!  Sargent Corp. is a Maine-based, employee-owned company that builds infrastructure across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states. Here in Sanford, they have most recently been working on the Westside Village reconstruction as well as redoing Taxiway Charlie at the Sanford Seacoast Regional Airport.

The Sargent Construction Academy is an apprenticeship program that allows participants to begin their careers with the company as fully-paid employees from day one.  Sargent also offers fully-paid internships for high school graduates that plan to pursue post-secondary education in construction and engineering.

Peter Parizo from Sargent Corp. said of Raiden, “His positivity and determination are infectious and every crew he has worked with has loved him.” SRTC Building Trades Instructor, Troy Hathaway, was recently in touch with Raiden and learned that he has finished the program and continues to work full-time for Sargent.
