Friends of Downtown Sanford is encouraging anyone who lives or works along the 4th of July parade route to decorate with flags, flowers, or anything red, white and blue for the holiday. The parade will run along Main St. from Malcolm Ave. to Gowen Park. Let’s show our spirit, Sanford!
There will be a parking ban beginning Monday, June 27 at 7:00 a.m. through Tuesday, June 28 at 6:00 p.m. on the following streets: Berwick Ave., Prescott St., Shaw St. and Twombley Rd. from Kimball to Main. The parking ban is so that the contractor can install the curbing in the newly reconstructed Westside Village area.
On Monday, July 4, trash and recycling will be picked up as usual. All City offices and both libraries will be closed. The transfer station will be closed Tuesday, July 5.
Head Start and Early Head Start programs have openings for the 2022/23 school year. These programs are free and it’s easy to apply. Call York County Community Action at 207-459-2963 or email info@yccac.org.
The Sanford Backpack Program is looking for some volunteers to help with the Thursday food distributions. Teens ages 14+ are welcome without an adult, younger kids are welcome to come with an adult. All work is outside in the elements and though that can be unpredictable it is always a good time! Sign up here if you can help.

The Salvation Army’s Choice Food Pantry is changing its hours for the summer. The new hours are Friday, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The Pantry will be closed July 22 and August 19.
Sanford High School Girls Lacrosse will be hosting free skills and drills clinics for grades 6-12 on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at Alumni Stadium from 8:00 – 10:00 a.m. All skill levels are welcome. Please sign up via Google Form: https://forms.gle/vNW3P4tjHvaVM41M9.
