Sanford Springvale Rotary Club is sponsoring five local high school students to attend RYLA 2022, the 32nd annual Rotary Youth Leadership Awards outdoor leadership camp. This year’s RYLA outdoor leadership camp will be held June 26-29th at Camp Hinds in Raymond, Maine. The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is an experience that allows students to develop leadership skills, enhance personal strengths, all while learning to apply high ethical standards. The program uses a wide range of experiential activities and challenges.
Sanford-Springvale Rotary Club will sponsor the full financial cost of five students to attend 2022
RYLA. Each scholarship is valued at over $750. Rotary Clubs select and sponsor talented, promising rising juniors (students finishing their sophomore year of high school), to attend. Students who have a desire to increase their confidence as a leader and as an individual, while also being challenged to grow personally, are encouraged to apply. Students finishing their sophomore year of high school can apply by contacting Andy Orazio at aorazio@sanfordymca.org or 207-324-4942.
Sanford Recreation’s Art Camp is designed for kids grades 1-8. This summer it will be held on Mondays for grades 1-4, beginning July 11, and on Thursdays for grades 5-8, beginning July 14. During this four week camp, they will enjoy high quality (and very fun) art including some new art techniques. This program is offered for the curious mind. The camp will be instructed by Deb Farnham, who is also the St. Thomas Art Teacher – she wears many hats. Art Camp will focus on the individual artist. The cost is $60 for Sanford/Springvale residents. Register online here.
Congratulations to Sanford Mainers Manager Nic Lops on being named the Yankee Small College Conference Coach of the Year in his first year with the Southern Maine Community College Seawolves.
