Plant Sale: The Landscaping and Horticulture program at the Sanford Regional Technical Center is jumping into spring with a plant sale the week of May 9 to May 14. The green house is stocked and ready to sell vegetables, herbs and flowers, as well as house plants and flowering hanging pots. The plant sale will be held during school hours from 8:15 to 1:00 and an hour longer on Tuesday and Thursday until 2:00. The greenhouse will also be open for this sale on Saturday, May 14 from 9 to noon. For more information email instructor pdurack@sanford.org.

Vax It: The York County Vaccination clinic has changed its hours again. They are open to drop-ins on Tuesdays 1-6pm, Thursdays 1-6pm and Saturdays 10am-330pm. First doses, boosters and second boosters are all available.
Yard Sale: Living Innovations, a nonprofit that works to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to lead good lives at home and in their communities, will be having a fundraising yard sale at 312 Cottage St. (the little office park across from Sanford Safe Storage) on May 14 & 15 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Rain dates are May 21 & 22.
Block Party: Mark your calendars, and get ready to welcome summer with a block party…and for an AWESOME cause! On Friday, June 17 at 5:30 p.m., Nasson Community Center will host a community BBQ outside with accompanying bake sale, as well as a foul shooting contest inside! Music will be blastin’ and corn hole will be happening as well! Email jdavie@nassoncommunitycenter.com for foul shooting pledge sheets. All activities will be by cash donation, with proceeds to benefit the Fromwiller family, whose son Chace is undergoing treatment for a rare form of brain cancer.
Arnie’s Ride: The Sanford Elks Lodge #1470 Maine Children’s Cancer Program’s Committee will be hosting its 13th Annual Arnie’s Ride on Saturday, June 4, 2022. The rain date is June 11, 2022. Registration starts at 8:00 AM at the Sanford Elks Lodge and the ride leaves at 10:15 AM sharp. Registration per rider is $25.00 and Friends of Arnie is $50.00, which includes one commemorative shirt. The deadline for the t-shirt to be picked on the day of the ride is May 18, 2022. A meal will be served at the last stop – The American Legion. Pre-register online, download your registration form or pick up a paper registration form at the Sanford Elks Lodge #1470, American Legion, Wolves Social Club, or Springvale Social Club. Mother’s Day Fun: Smitty’s GameLAB is treating moms to a free dessert and a shoe rental if they bowl this Sunday. Just rent a lane with mom anytime on Mother’s Day (5/8). If Mom’s not too tired after bowling, treat her to dinner at Pilot’s Cove Café, where Las Vegas magician and mentalist Kent Axell will present a free Mother’s Day dinner show from 6-7pm.
This week the Pleasant Street Free Baptist Church unveiled its beautiful new Ridley Garden, named in honor of the faithful service of Glen and Marilyn Ridley. Much work has gone into the garden over the past month and church members are excited about how it will be used in the years ahead.
