People Around Town: March 27, 2022

Barb Crider (pictured above), Executive Director of York County Community Action, is stepping down after leading the organization for the past 12 years. YCCAC has been operating in York County since 1964, providing a range of educational, health and social services across York County. During Ms. Crider’s tenure, the organization has grown in size and has diversified its program offerings, which included the opening of Nasson Health Care in 2012.

Rick Stanley’s Chamber Talk radio show has been featuring some of Sanford’s key city employees recently. Public Works Director Matt Hill was interviewed February 19, Airport Manager Allison Navia was featured February 26, and Communications Coordinator Jordan Wilson was the guest on March 19. The Sanford High School Jazz Band earned a Silver rating for its performance at the State Instrumental Jazz Festival last week in Hampden!   Congratulations to director Hailey Francoeur and her jazz band members on a great performance.

The Sanford Police Department welcomed its newest officer, Eric Bilodeau, to the force this month. Officer Bilodeau is a certified New Hampshire Law Enforcement Officer and has been working for the City of Rochester for the past few years. He grew up in Auburn Maine and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 2008 where he deployed to Afghanistan before being Honorably discharged in 2014. He earned his Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Houston in 2018. He will spend the next few weeks becoming a certified Maine Law Enforcement Officer before completing his field training program.

Preston Sharp, a California teen who has made national headlines with his Veterans Flags & Flowers campaign, will be coming to the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Springvale on April 15 as part of his quest to honor veterans in all 50 states.
