The Sanford Art Association has graciously decorated our halls with a lovely new display of local art pieces. Take a walk through the library and enjoy them the next time you’re here, and ask the front desk for more details if you wish to purchase any of the art.

Lego Club continues to take place on Wednesdays from 2:30pm – 4:30pm. Kids can drop in and build Lego creations for display. Recommended for ages 5 and up. Masks required.

Online Story Time is hosted by Miss Nicole on Thursdays at 11:00am. A new, pre-recorded story is uploaded to the library’s Facebook page each week, and all videos are available to view any time in the Videos section. For the month of February, stories will have a love or Valentine’s Day theme.

New Books:

  • Adult Fiction: Greenwich Park by Katherine Faulkner: In this thrilling game of cat and mouse full of unexpected twists, pregnant Helen’s perfect life begins to change the first day she attends a pre-natal class. She meets the very unpredictable, un-maternal Rachel, whose friendship quickly turns unsettling when she threatens to expose a past crime that could destroy everyone’s lives. More than a few secrets get exposed, and they all tie back to Greenwich Park.
  • Young Adult: Roxy by Neal Shusterman: In this strange and riveting new novel, Synthetic Gods named Roxy and Addison toy with human souls by making a dangerous wager. These gods are of course representations of the drugs Oxycontin and Adderall, and others make an appearance. There is no preaching in the tale, however – it is a hauntingly realistic portrayal of how one choice can lead someone down a very, very dark path.
  • Middle Grade: Da Vinci’s Cat by Catherine Gilbert Murdoch: This charming tale is aimed at 8 – 12 year olds, but many adults will find enjoyment in reading it as well. It tells the story of two unlikely friends – Frederico, in 16th century Rome, and Bee, in present-day New Jersey – and how they are linked through a friendly cat, an odd wardrobe, and an eerie sketch, all related to Da Vinci himself.
  • Children’s: Dancing with Daddy by Anitra Rowe Schulte: This touching picture book tells the story of Elsie, a girl in a wheelchair who can’t wait for her first father-daughter dance. She has been dancing and talking about it endlessly, but when a winter storm comes, she wonder’s if her dream of the perfect dance night will really come true.
