St. Thomas School celebrated Catholic Schools Week 2022 from January 31 to February 4 with a week full of fun, learning and helping others. The school kicked off the week by thanking parishioners for their support and generosity with a delicious “grab-and-go” breakfast, and continued with an explosion of blue and white at a very spirited pep rally! Go, Eagles!
The celebration of Catholic Schools’ Week continued with “clash day” (pictured above) – with students dressing in their “clashiest” outfits – and an amazing talent show, via a Covid-style Google Meet. In the hanging dove project, each student explained the reason they love St. Thomas. After Mass, it was time for some board game fun.
Catholic Schools’ Week fun continued with human Scrabble, “Stop, Drop & Read,” and sliding down their rather impressive snow bank!
One day featured a visit from the Center for Wildlife. Students met and learned about Lucille and Fern, two rehabilitated owls. Sixth, seventh, and eighth graders dissected owl pellets. They are the undigested parts of a bird’s food, such as hair and/or bones, that are regurgitated through the beak.
Each year for Catholic Schools’ Week, St. Thomas holds its much-loved door decorating competition! This year’s theme was favorite Bible stories. The Pre-K door is pictured below.
Catholic Schools’ Week celebration has brought many fun and memorable activities, but the most meaningful has surrounded the School’s service projects. This year they have chosen to support Waban Projects, the St. Therese Food Closet, and the Center for Wildlife. Thanks to all those who have generously donated to these important causes!
