News Notes: December 26, 2021

On Friday and Saturday, December 17 and 18, Springvale Toys for Tots held its 14th distribution event and the parents of (approximately) 1400 children came to choose gifts/toys for their children. This year Toys for Tots was fortunate to have the use of Curtis Lake Church’s multi-purpose room where the gifts were displayed for choosing and parents were escorted by elves, who were all members of the community. A small group of individuals have created this event year upon year to guarantee that children will have gifts to open on Christmas morning. Thanks to all the folks and businesses that donated, as well as to the Sanford students who showed up to help volunteer their time with setup, and the local restaurants and grocery stores that donated food for the volunteers.

Teens can enjoy a day at the Maine Mall with Sanford Recreation on Wednesday, December 29.  Get a ride in the Sanford Rec new silver van.  The trip leaves from Sanford Pride Elementary parking lot at 10:00 a.m. and returns at 4:00 p.m.  Limit 11 students.  Cost is just $5.

The York County EMA Vaccine Clinic at 1364 Main St. will be open Tuesday and Thursday this week, from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. No appointment needed for ages 5 and up. All vaccines available including boosters.

Auditions for The Vagina Monologues directed by Ashley Muise will be held Thursday, January 20, 2022 from 6-8pm at Nasson Little Theatre, 457 Main Street in Springvale. If you would like to audition, please be prepared to cold read one of the monologues. If you have a resume or headshot, please bring them in. Rolling Thunder will be removing the wreaths from the Southern Maine Memorial Veterans Cemetery on January 8. If you would like to help, be there at 9:00 a.m.
