It’s summertime, and you know what that means: ice cream, beach days, lobster rolls, and roadway construction. Most roadwork is done in the summer because the weather provides ideal conditions, and the longer daylight hours allow for more efficient work. Additionally, summer breaks in school schedules reduce traffic.
The City of Sanford has been working hard to draw state and federal funding into our community and has been successful in creating strong partnerships through President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. This ensures that local tax dollars are invested efficiently in our community.
Sanford’s theme this year for roadwork is: There is potential construction at nearly every turn in Sanford/Springvale, so plan on giving yourself a little extra time to get where you need to go.
The state Department of Transportation (Maine DOT), Sanford Department of Public Works, and the water and sewerage departments will all be completing construction on or near the roadways. Here is a summary of the work being performed this construction season:
