School Notes 1/24

Congratulations to Sanford High School junior Laila Adawadkar, who is 1 of 30 students and (1 of 2 females) accepted to the U.S. Navy Sea Cadet Arctic Buoy Program.  She will research and build buoys that will be deployed in the Arctic Ice Sheet.

Barring any unforeseen staffing issues or new Covid concerns, in-person learning will resume at all Sanford public schools on Monday, January 25.

The Maine Principals’ Association (MPA) recently announced a decision to allow counties with a “yellow” designation to participate in athletics. Based on their updated guidance and our communication with other schools in southern Maine, most Sanford High School winter sports teams will start skills and drills practices this Monday. Coaches will be in touch with student athletes to provide them with specific plans and expectations. Safety remains paramount and the safety protocols for COVID-19 that are already working so well in our schools will be maintained.

Sanford Middle School winter athletics will begin February 1, 2021, with signups starting next week.

High School and Middle School clubs, group artistic endeavors, and student groups that can safely follow COVID-19 guidelines will also begin organizing in-person activities in the coming weeks.

From the Special Ed Department: If you (or your custodial children) received Special Education and were born prior to December 31, 1994, and would like to have your records, contact the Special Education office at Sanford High School, 100 Alumni Blvd, or by phone at 457-1413 prior to February 19, 2021.  Records not claimed by February 26, 2021 will be destroyed.
