The Week Ahead: August 10-14, 2020

The Nasson Community Center is hosting a Red Cross blood drive on Monday, August 10, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. As of this writing, there are still appointments available for power red donations. You can make an appointment online here or call 800-733-2767 to make an appointment by phone.

The Goodall Library is hosting the first session of Poetry Express on Monday at 6 p.m. Maine spoken word poet Maya Williams will meet with participants online to present some poems, offer tips and share poem options. The second session, where participants share their poems with an invited audience, will happen on August 17. Email, or message the library through Facebook or Twitter to sign up.

The Sanford School Committee will meet via Zoom on Monday at 6:30 p.m. School reopening is expected to be the main topic of discussion. The information needed to access the meeting is here.

The Zoning Board of Appeals will meet via Zoom on Wednesday, August 12 at 6 p.m. The Board will hear the Administrative Appeal of Christine and Dana Worden, to reverse and vacate a Notice of Violation/Order to Correct regarding their property on Beaver Hill Rd. in Springvale. At 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, the Springvale Public Library hosts Neighborhood Nature for Play and Learning, a live webinar with Maine Audubon’s Early Childhood Education Program Manager Molly Woodring. She will discuss how exploring “nearby nature” can promote independent play, strengthen relationships, and foster connection to nature, with a focus on strategies and resources for different developmental stages. This free virtual event is the first of a three-part series. On Friday at 9 a.m., Sanford-Springvale Chamber of Commerce hosts their annual Golf Tournament at Province Lake Golf Course in Parsonsfield. Registrations are sold out and a great day of golfing is forecast!
