The Sanford Veterans Memorial Committee has announced plans for its annual Veterans Day events to be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023. The public is welcome at all events.
Committee members will gather to place a wreath at the memorial in Central Park at 9 am. They will then travel to the gazebo in front of Walgreens in Springvale for a wreath laying there.
At 11 am, the ceremonies at Veterans Memorial Gym, 678 Main St., will begin. Paul Auger will serve as Master of Ceremonies. Lt. Col. Christine L. Banks of the U.S. Air National Guard will be the featured speaker. A special award will be presented to Dale Midgley, Service Officer at the T.W. Cole Post #19 of the American Legion in Springvale. The Sanford High School Band will perform.
Following the indoor ceremonies, attendees will be invited to come outside for a wreath laying. Afterward, a luncheon will be served at the VFW on Hutchinson Street.
