This Weekend: August 28-30

The Sanford-Springvale Rotary Club will be selling their world-famous chicken livers at Iron Tails Saloon in Acton (across from the fairgrounds) on Friday, August 28 from 3:00 to 8:00, and on Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 to 6:30. It’s a little piece of the Acton Fair to tide you over til next year!

“Big John” Rachkoskie and Skip will bring some rockin’ blues to Back Street at 6:00 p.m. on Friday to kick start your weekend.

Supporters of the YMCA Trafton Center will be Stepping Out For Seniors on Saturday, August 29, with a fundraising walk that begins and ends at the Trafton Center on Elm St. There will be a raffle too, with great prizes including gift certificates to local establishments and baskets of goodies. Proceeds from this event benefit older adults right here in our community. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and the walk begins at 9:00. For more information or to register, call 457-0080.

The Sanford Republicans will host the grand opening of their election office at 510 Main St. in Springvale on Saturday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. They have a full line of Trump merchandise for sale, as well as LePage 2022 hats.

The Crossroads Methodist Church will hold a Drive-Thru Bean Supper on Saturday evening from 5:00 to 6:30, at the corner of Route 202 and Grammar Road. The menu includes two kinds of beans, hotdogs, ham, American chop suey, cole slaw, rolls, brown bread muffins and brownies. All for just a $7 donation!

The rescheduled Free Summer Concert by Third Martini will happen on Sunday, August 30 at Gateway Park from noon to 2:00 p.m. Come and check out this great band, performing jazz, blues, soul & contemporary pop selections. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and a picnic lunch! Circles will be painted on the grass to make social distancing easy.
