This is the weekend to get rolling, with events for ATVs to hit the trail, and cars, motorcycles and bikes to hit the road!
On Saturday, August 15, the Sanford ATV Club is organizing two trail rides in partnership with the Lazy Frog Campground in Lebanon. The more challenging ride will begin at Train’s Tavern in Lebanon at 7:30 a.m., and stop to pick up riders at Lazy Frog at 8:00. There is also an easier ride starting from the Depot Gas Station at 11:00. All riders are welcome back to the campground for the BBQ Cook Out, lawn games, bonfire and music to begin approximately at 4 PM. Meals are $10 a plate (preregistration required) with $1 of each meal sold donated to the ATV Club to help fund materials needed to expand, repair and maintain the local trails. Get more info and preregister here.
Also on Saturday, the Sanford Elks Club is hosting the 11th Annual Arnie’s Ride in support of the Maine Children’s Cancer Program. Due to the pandemic, there will not be an organized route this year, but riders will choose their own route. Cars, motorcycles and bicycles are welcome. Registration is $25, and you can register any time from 8:00 a.m. to Noon at the Elks Lodge on Elm St. More info here or contact Wayne Young at 432-0381. The rain date is Sunday, August 16.
If two-foot transportation is more to your liking, this weekend would be a great time to enter the Sanford Trails drawing to win a $25 gift certificate to Shaw’s Ridge Farm. All you have to do to enter is hike (or bike!) the one-mile trail from the gravel parking lot on Railroad Ave. up to Shaw’s Ridge, take a selfie along the way, and post it on the Sanford Trails Facebook or Instagram page. More info here.
