The Week Ahead: August 17-21, 2020

On Monday, August 17, the Sanford School Committee will hold a special summer meeting at 7:00 p.m. to hear the latest updates on the school reopening plan, and vote on it. The meeting will be held at the Performing Arts Center with a limited number of people in attendance. It will also be streamed live on the Town Hall Streams site and on the WSSR TV YouTube channel, as well as on cable channel 26. The Site Plan Review Committee will meet on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. to review a proposed nine lot subdivision at the intersection of Jagger Mill and Spencer Hill Roads. The agenda and Zoom link are here.

Also on Tuesday, the City Council will meet at 6:00 p.m. via Zoom. The meeting will include a public hearing to receive comments on a new marijuana growing license for CannaOne LLC, 27 Hancock Ln. Other items on the agenda include an update on the Keep Maine Healthy grants, and creation and appointment of a new seven-member Recreation Advisory Board. Wanna get spooky? The Maine Paranormal Monthly Meetup is planned for 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Gowen Park. This is a casual meetup to chat, with social distancing observed. More info here.

On Wednesday, Sanford Parks and Rec along with Sanford Sound present a Free Summer Concert at 6:00 p.m. at Gateway Park. Third Martini (pictured above) is a female vocalist fronted soul band, covering jazz to blues and soul to contemporary pop, delivered with a fresh, eclectic groove. At 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the Planning Board will meet via Zoom. Items on the agenda include the proposed Spencer Hill Estates subdivision, and reconsideration of the R. Pepin and Sons site plan approval that was voted on last week. The full agenda with instructions for Zoom access, is here.

On Friday, why not enjoy some acoustic music? Brian Walker will be performing at Pilot’s Cove CafĂ© and Kris Hype returns to Back Street. Both shows start at 6:00 p.m. Don’t forget to wear red and white to show your Sanford Pride and Spartan School Spirit!
