SHS field hockey drops heartbreaker to Thornton Academy in Class A South playoffs
The Sanford High School field hockey team dropped a 2-1 heartbreaker to Thornton Academy in a quarterfinal matchup in the Class A South playoffs at Alumni Stadium on Tuesday, October 29. Ellie Davis gave the Spartans a 1-0 lead, scoring on a breakaway in the second quarter, but the Trojans tied it in the third and then took the lead for good with 5:56 remaining in the game. The Spartans finished the season at 8-5.
Youth Basketball Registration Opens in Sanford-Springvale
The Sanford Springvale Basketball Association has launched its youth recreational basketball program for PreK-8th grade students. The program includes regular practices, weekly games, and jerseys, which will be distributed at the first practice or game. Team photos will be available this season.
