Sanford Mainers Prevail in First Round of Playoff Series

The Sanford Mainers swept the Mystic Schooners in the first round of the East Division New England Collegiate Baseball League postseason playoff series at Goodall Park in Sanford.
They won game one of the series, 11-6, on Monday, July 31. Calvin Hewett drove in three runs for the Mainers, while Kevin Skagerlind, Jack Toomey and Jeremiah Jenkins each had two RBI.
They had a 2-1 win over the Schooners in game two on Tuesday, August 1. Logan Poteet broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the eighth with a single that drove in Matthew Miceli. Seamus Barrett earned the win on the mound, allowing one run on four hits and a walk while striking out eight over seven innings.
As of August 3, the Mainers were awaiting their second-round matchup in the NECBL postseason.
Time for Sanford High School Students to Register for Fall Sports
Registration for fall sports at Sanford High School is now open. The online registration form can be found here. As part of the registration process, each student must submit the results of a current physical to the Sanford High School Athletic Office.
Sanford High School athletes who need a physical will be able to receive one on Tuesday, August 8th, from 3-5 pm at Sanford High School in Room D105. The cost is $20. Checks can be made payable to York Hospital. Students must be accompanied by their parent/guardian or have the Limited Sports Exam form (Physical_Form.pdf) signed by their parent/guardian.
All physicals are valid for two years from the date the physical was given.
