SHS senior wins shot put at Class A Indoor Track State Championships
Sanford High School senior Tucker Walker won the shot put at the Class A Indoor Track and Field State Championships at the University of Southern Maine in Gorham on Monday, February 19.
Walker won with a throw of 53 feet, 10 inches, breaking his school record in the process. His record-breaking throw qualifies him for the New England Indoor Championships on Saturday, March 2, in Roxbury, Massachusetts.
Other Sanford athletes had strong showings in Gorham, including Junior Rhylan Avery, who finished seventh in the 55-meter dash in 6.68 seconds, and Mason Van Giesen (7th in the pole vault, 11 feet).
SHS freshman finishes fourth at Maine State Girls’ Wrestling Championships
Sanford High School freshman Cassidy Kenyon finished fourth overall at the Maine State Girls’ Wrestling Championships on Tuesday, February 20, in Winslow.
Kenyon had two pins.
