And the gold goes to Sanford: The Sanford High School Winter Guard took first place at the New England Scholastic Band Association competition at Dover High School (Dover, NH) on March 10. This year’s show, “Car Wash,” was designed by coaches Drew Halpin Desmarais, Eric Desmarais, Anna Yuhas and Claire Anderson. The group is comprised of students from four area schools — Kennebunk, Massabesic, Noble and Sanford. Accompanied by music, winter guard performances incorporate choreography, dance and the manipulation of equipment such as flags, sabers and rifles.
